The Sacred Name

The Sacred Name
John Hagee
Exodus 20:7 reminds us of the sacredness of God's name: “You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain.” This commandment is not merely about avoiding casual misuse of His name, but about carrying it with honor and reverence. When we invoke God’s name, we must do so with the utmost respect, for His name represents His character, His power, and His majesty. It is the name before which angels bow, demons flee, and sickness vanishes. The name of God opens the doors of heaven and closes the gates of hell.

In our culture, God’s name is often treated with contempt. But as believers, we are called to uphold its sanctity. Psalm 103:17-18 says, “The mercy of the Lord is from everlasting to everlasting on those who fear Him, and to those who keep His commandments.” Let us honor God’s sacred name in our words, actions, and hearts, recognizing the power and glory it carries.
